Boden day five

Day Four
They took him off his bili lights and stopped his antibiotics because his labs have improved.  I love that we are making progress, but it seems like he has already been there forever and it's only been four days : (  We are still struggling with feedings and he is still on IV fluids, but everyday is another day closer to coming home.  We love you Boden!!

Day Five
Today Boden got moved from Room 1 to Room 3.  He is now up to his max feeding amount every three hours so they stopped his IV fluids and took out his IV.  We are now just waiting on him to start picking up his feedings from a bottle so we don't have to feed him through his tube but that is all on his time now. I know he will get it, but it's so frustrating now because I just wish I could take him home and feed him, but that's the rules so whatever.  I just hope he catches on quick and he can come home sometime this weekend or the first of next week : (  Oh I LOVE his fat cheeks, he is so chunky and I LOVE it!!

His cheeks are so fat it looks like he has no chin.  LOL I love it!!

Teg's First Day of Kindergarten

Tegan started Kindergarten on Wednesday, Aug 29th.  He was so dang excited.  He was all dressed and ready to go hours before school started.  He wore his backback around all morning and kept asking how much longer till he had to go to school.  Him and Ky rode their bikes over there and I followed them in the car.  When we got there I went to hold his hand and he just pulled it away and said, I am fine mom.  It was so funny, he is growing up and no longer needs to hold mommy's hand.  I was doing really good and was so excited for him until right before he went into school he came over and gave Ky a big hug and said, "Bye buddy, i will see you after school. I love you Ky" They hugged for such a long time.  Then the teacher said it was time to go and Tegan got in line and looked back at Ky and they both just waved at each other and Ky said, "See ya Tegan, have fun in school"  It was the sweetest thing ever.  It made me tear up.  Those two are such good buddies, it's so cute!!

Day 3 in the NICU

Boden is making great progress.  He is off all of his air and they are hoping to stop his antibiotics tomorrow if his labs look good. They started him on bili lights to try to help him before his bili gets too high.  He has kind of pooped out on feeding.  If his still doesn't eat well tomorrow they are goingt to start feeding him through his feeding tube, which is a huge set back for coming home.  Oh I wish I could just have my baby home, but I know that it will happen soon hopefully!!
I got to give him is first bath tonight.  It was so fun.  This is him after he got all cleaned up and his hair styled.  : )  We took the stickers off his face and they left little red dots on his cheeks, his skin is super sensitive.

He's Here...

Born August 26th at 5:19 PM

I was feeling pretty crappy all weekend and Sunday morning I woke up and after taking both of my meds I was still contracting and hurting really bad. We ran the boys to my mom's house and went to the hospital. When I got there I was contracting about every 2-3 minutes and dilated to a 4 plus. They gave me a shot of terbutaline to try to stop the contractions, but the pain got worse and the contractions didn't stop. I had then dilated from a 4 to a 5 so they decided to keep me. I got admitted to labor and delivery about 2:00 P.M. where they immediately started my epidural. After about 30 minutes I told my nurse that my cheeks (on my face) were numb, but not my other cheeks LOL. Yeah, the anesthesiologist came in and tried re-dosing me about 3 times and NOTHING. I could still feel everything. After about another 30 minutes of agonizing pain, he decided to pull the epidural and re-due it. Finally the second one kicked in and I was a lot more comfortable. At about 4:45 the nurse came in to recheck me and I was complete and ready to go. They called Dr. Seale and about the time he got there I was really needing to push. It was only one contraction and my little man entered this world.

He looked amazing!!  His apgars were 9 and 9 and everything seemed to be great.  They decided to take him to transition nursery just because he was grunting a little bit.  When they got him over there he started retracting and his blood sugar was 20 (normal is above 45).  Not too much longer they decided they were going to admit him to the NICU and intibate him to give him some surfactant for his lungs.  : (  I was so hoping to not have to go through the NICU thing again, but lucky for us they are really good there and it's the best thing for him.
The boys were so sad they did not get to see him.  Ky just kept saying, but mom I promise I won't breathe on him, PLEASE can I go see him.  It was so sad.  The first thing Kyson said to me when he saw me was, "mom, can I see if your tummy isn't fat anymore"  He was having a blast kneeding my stomach like a thing of dough. It was pretty funny.
Little Bo was intubated for till about 6:00 am the next day.
Day Two
They put him on high flow and placed his feeding tube.  We were so surprised when they told us we could try to see if he would eat from a bottle.  We fed him and he did GREAT, he downed 20 mLs in about 10 minutes.  This seemed huge to us because it took Beckem about a week to even suck so we were so happy!!

Papa came up and held Bo for a little while.
It was sad not having our baby in our room with us, but it was nice to be able to just relax in our bed and enjoy one another all day long between going to see our little guy.  We sure did miss holding little Boden though.

Kids say the funniest things...

Last night the boys were at my mom's and my mom told me while they were playing outside Tegan found some ants.  He said to my mom, "Hey look Grandma, those ants are fighting, they are wrestling.  Get him buddy get him, oh they are done wrestling now"  HA HA that's exactly what they are doing...wrestling.  Oh I love the innocence of children, if only they could stay that innocent!!

Yesterday we were outside playing and Kyson was riding his motorized jeep and Tegan came over to Ky and said, "Hey Ky, I am going to go dig in the dirt, want to come with me??" and Kyson let out a huge sigh and said, "yeah I will come over there, but I need to drive because I sure do have a lot of work to do"  It was so funny. So he headed over to the flower bed in his jeep because apparently he had a lot of work to do.

Oh I love my boys!!

I love to see the Temple...

I was so excited when my neighbor told me she had extra tickets for the Brigham City Temple open house.  I was just a little hesitant because the time was for 1:45 which meant Zac had to work, but I wanted the boys to be able to see what a temple looks like inside.  They were really excited to go so, thanks to my sister-in-law for watching Beckem, me and the boys went to see the temple.

The boys were SO GOOD through the whole thing.  They thought it was so pretty.  They especially couldn't get over how beautiful the celestial room was, but how could you not think it's BEAUTIFUL, it's one of the prettiest places I have ever seen!! I was so glad the boys got a chance to go see the temple.  I hope that one day they will choose to go there and make forever promises with the Lord.  I am so grateful for the blessing of the temple and the promises it gives to me and my family!!  We are so blessed to have so many temples so close to us!!

After the temple we headed to Kent's to get some donuts and snow cones (the snow cone was really for me because with this heat, I crave one all the time.  Being prego in the dead heat of summer is so ridiculous, I seriously am dying of heat ALL THE TIME).  Anyone that knows Zac knows he LOVES donuts. Tegan is definitely is his daddy's boy, he asks me to go get him a donut every single day.  I of course, don't want my child eating one everyday, but figured today was a special day.  Tegan was so excited he scarfed down two of them in no time.

NICU Reunion at North Shore

Every year McKay's NICU does a reunion where all the premie babies and their families are invited back to enjoy a party.  We didn't go last year because he was in the NICU when they did it.  We decided to go and check it out this year.  I figured I could sit at the pool just as much as I could sit at home so we let the kids go enjoy some swim time.  It was so nice.  We all got in for free to North Shore (North Ogden Pool) and they fed all of us dinner and then they had tons of toys they gave away through a drawing.  It was so fun and so nice. I can't believe a year ago at this time we were praying for him in the NICU.  I was so impressed with everyone in the NICU.  They are amazing people that work there!!  I am just hoping we don't have to go through that again with this next baby.

Look how cute this little kid is, I love his big cheese!!

Beckem's Birthday Party

Beckem's birthday party was so much fun for him.  He LOVED the balloons.  I felt bad though, when it was time to open presents he just wanted to crawl around and didn't really care about the gifts.  It was so nice of everyone to come and celebrate with him. I can't believe he is one.  He is so much fun and am LOVING every second with him.  Happy Birthday Buddy!!  We love you so much!!

I was not up to baking a cake so I just called Walmart and asked them to make him one. I was feeling so guilty because I have made all the other cakes in the past, but it actually turned out so cute and she even made him his very own. I was very impressed and the cake was so YUMMY!!
It took him quite awhile to figure out what to do with the cake and finally he just dumped it off the plate and was putting the plate on his head.  He loved it!!

Beckem and his cousin Jake.  They are so cute!!
The boys had so much fun playing with Rylan and Livi, they love those girls!!

Just when I thought I was doing so good

The night before Beckems birthday I ended up in Labor and Delivery to have them stop my contractions.  I was just sitting in a work meeting when I started contracting, that was around 4 and they had not stopped by 9 so we headed to McKay.  They gave me the horrible drug terbutaline, but it works so I just deal with the racing heart rate, the jitters and the restlessness.  When she checked me I was dialated to a 2 and 60%. We were able to come home around 1 am and get some rest.

The next night at Beckem's birthday party I started contracting and was pretty miserable.  I finally got a hold of my Dr. and he called me in some terbutaline pills and he told me he needed to see me in his office the next day to get checked out and see what was going on.  Late that night I actually passed my mucous plug and was SO MISERABLE.  I was so nervous about what was to come and just kept praying that the little man will stay in a little longer.

Yesterday I went in to see my Dr. and I am dialated to a 3 + and very thin. : (  Not really what I wanted to hear, but it is what it is.  I am now on modified bedrest at home, which means I just need to take it easy and I am not allowed to work until I have him.  I am just super worried for him, I hated seeing Beckem in the NICU and really don't want to see another one of my children struggle like that.  If I can just get at least two HOPEFULLY three more weeks in then I would be so grateful.

The plan now is, I am on medication around the clock to help stop my contractions and we are just pray for the best.  Zac gave me a blessing last night, I am so grateful for the priesthood and the comfort it brings to our family. I am so excited to meet him, but the longer the better in this case.

Beckem's ONE already!!

It feels like just yesterday we were in the hospital getting ready to meet our little Beckem. I can't believe it's been a year already. He has been so MUCH FUN and the best baby anyone could ever ask for. He is so chill and so easy going. He LOVES to play with his brothers!! Beckem can say "da da, ma ma, bye, boba, ba ba (he LOVES his blanket), pa pa, and hi" It's so fun watching him learn new things. He loves to wave to everyone and blow them kisses.  We get comments EVERYWHERE we go how happy of a baby he is and that's so true.  He is always smiling and laughing.  He very RARELY cries.  We are so grateful to have him in our lives and the happiness he brings to our family. HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY Beckem!! We love you!!
