Tegan’s Broken Foot

While we were in Caineville Tegan came into the trailer one night saying that he hurt his foot.  I had him ice it and gave him some ibuprofen.  He rested it during dinner and then went back out to ride.  He kept telling me it was hurting but he was still kick starting his bike and walking on it so I forgot about it.  When we got home he would complain every once in awhile about it.  One morning before school he told me he was worried because he needed to run the mile in gym class and he didn’t think he could because his foot hurt.  I wrote him a note to ask the teacher to excuse him from the mile run that day.  Tegan came home from school and told me he ran the mile and I asked him why did he have to since he had the note.  He responded to me by telling me that he didn’t want to sit out with the teacher and feel awkward so he never gave him the note and he ran on it.  The next day he texted me during school and asked if we could go get it checked out because it really hurt.  Again, he came home from school and went out and played basketball so I forgot all about it.  That weekend he was complaining to me and Zac about his foot hurting and he needed to go to the doctor.  I told him, okay Tegan I will take you to the instacare, but if nothing is wrong you are paying the bill (because he was walking on it and everything so I didn’t believe him).  He agreed and we headed to the instacare.  Low and behold it was broken :(. MOTHER OF THE YEAR!!  He was instructed to not put weight on it and wear the boot until he got in to see the ortho doc.

When he was riding his bike he was rolling over a jump to look at it and his toe caught the edge of the hill and jerked his foot back.  This is the bone that broke.  The Dr. thinks he pulled that tendon in his foot and it broke off a piece of bone with it.

We finally got in to see the ortho Dr. and luckily it wasn’t too bad.  Tegan wore the boot for three more weeks and then was able to take it off and just rest his foot if he felt pain.
